MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY - Helen Brown Winchester, born April 17, 1909 in Chetek, WI, was approaching 103 years of life when she passed away on March 2, 2012 in Madisonville, KY.
She was the oldest daughter of Rev. Christopher Brown from Kent, England, and Blanche Dick Brown from Mendota, IL. She is the second oldest and last surviving child of 7, including Fred, Christopher, Ralph, Ernest, Jack Brown and Charlotte Hopkins.
She married Noah Winchester in Oct. 1928 in Hartford and had one step-son, Leon. She served in several mission churches while he farmed until Noah passed away in 1962.
"Miss Winchester", as she is affectionately called, gathered many people into her heart as family along life's way. One look into her eyes tells you two things: one, you are loved, and two, she loves the Lord. She spent her entire life as a devoted Christian, active missionary and even preached at the Salvation Army on occasion, in her later years. As a resident at Ridgewood Terrace, she visited other residents to provide daily prayer.
Surviving are many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and countless friends. It is with great gratitude that we include June Erickson and sons, Tim, Matt, and Mark as family members, for their devotion to our beloved aunt.
"Miss Winchester, may you rest in peace with the Lord in Heaven." Proverbs 3:24 "When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet."
Funeral at Tucker Funeral Home, 113 North 3rd St., Central City, KY, 42330 Monday, March 5 at 1:00 with visitation at 11:30, Rev. Amos Glendenning officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
