J. Augustus (Gus) Edwards, 96, of Robards, KY

HENDERSON, KY -  J. Augustus (Gus) Edwards, 96, long time resident of the Robards, KY area, died Thursday, September 15th at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington KY following pneumonia.

He was born June 30, 1915 to the late Claude Augustus Edwards and Rena Adell (Della) Spencer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Lucy Poole Edwards, as well as all of his siblings: Blanche Griffin, Pauline Griffin, Lockett Edwards, Forrest Edwards, Malcolm Edwards and Ollie Edwards.

Mr. Edwards' career included store management of JJ Newberry in New Albany IN and Bardstown KY, cost accounting for Delker Manufacturing Co., and farming. He was a long time member of the Robards United Methodist Church where he served as a Deacon.

He leaves behind: His only child: Sondra Edwards Holt and son-in-law, Terrell William Holt Lexington,KY; 2 Grandchildren: Richard (Rick) William Holt Cedar Park, TX Amy Lynn Holt Lexington, KY; 4 Great Grandchildren: Andrew William Holt, Allison Leigh Holt, Ashton Blake Holt, Heidi Marie Adkins; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. Rev. Rick Nollmann will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Henderson, KY.

Friends may call from 12:00 PM until service time on Sunday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY.
