HENDERSON, KY - Ron Standridge, age 74 departed this world to be with our Lord and Savior at 1:10 PM, October 18, 2012 at home with his family under St. Anthony's Hospice Care.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Martha , 4 daughters, Tami Chambers and her husband Larry, Kim Duncan and her husband Ernie, and Veronica Powell, all of Henderson, Shawn Beavin and her husband Danny of Evansville. 1 Sister , Sharon Standridge of Boonville, IN and 1 brother William Standridge, of Cincinnati, OH. 8 Grandchildren, Heath and Brandon Chambers, Chad and Brooke Duncan, Morgan and Tori Powell, Jackson and Grant Beavin, and 5 great grandchildren Dylan, Presley, Taylor and Sidney Chambers and Cameron Reed Duncan, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Edgar and Magdalene Standridge and his Sister Charlotte Hollis.

He attended First Assembly of God for the last 35 years.

Ron was a US Army Veteran, a truck driver and cryogenics engineer for MG Industries. Ron was born January 11, 1938. He joined the United States Army February 14, 1955. He advanced to Sergeant and Riffle instructor of ROTC at Dukane University. He served with the 101st Airborne division as a paratrooper. Under special deployment to Vietnam in 1967 he was given 2 medals of accommodation for jumping into hostile territory.

After his military career, he joined his father as a truck driver at MG Industries. He was given the safe driver award for 15 consecutive years. He then became their maintenance and technical cryogenics engineer and retired after 28 years of service.

By his own words his greatest achievement was believing in the Son of God, and living for him. He loved and was committed to his wife, family, friends, neighbors and his country. He especially loved serving his fellowman and country as a paratrooper. Some of his medals on earth were for jumping into hostile territory during war time. He took his last jump on October 18, 2012, this time into the loving arms of Jesus Christ for eternity. We will see him again in the twinkle of an eye.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 22, 2012 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. Pastor Jeff Ferguson, will officiate with speaker Sonny Mills. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery, Henderson, Ky. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.

Friends may call from 10:00 AM until service time on Monday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.
