Frances Jean (Sandefur) Vaughn, 81 of Henderson, KY

HENDERSON, KY - Frances Jean (Sandefur) Vaughn, 81 of Henderson, KY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends at 12:25 PM on Monday November 5, 2012. The family would like to give a special thanks to St. Anthony’s Hospice and Frances’ caregiver and loving friend Charlotte Smoot.

She was the first child born in Henderson County on January 1, 1931 to Russell and Leona (Conrad) Sandefur. She was a homemaker, avid Elvis fan, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She had a passion for family, gardening, shopping, politics and mystery movies. Throughout many hardships, she remained the patriarch of her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Philbert L. Vaughn, daughter Shelly Denise Barker-Stinson, Brother Marion Ashby Sandefur and sister Marie Luna

She is survived by 3 children: Traci Cingle, Scott Vaughn, Eric Stinson all of Henderson; 2 Sisters: Rita Clement of Henderson, Laveda Baach of Phoenix, Arizona; 1 Brother: Danny Sandefur of Henderson; 4 Grandchildren: Lisa Barker Kellen, Hayli Jo Cingle, Joshua and Daniel Vaughn; 6 Great-grandchildren: Tristan and Michael Carlo, Trevor Kellen, Abbott, Latta and Meric Stinson; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday November 8, 2012 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel.

Rev. Hollis Marshall will officiate. She will be laid to rest beside her husband and daughter in Fairmont Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday 4-8 PM and Thursday Noon until service time at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Alex Kellen, Drew Sandefur, John Clement, Josh Vaughn, Daniel Vaughn and Tristan Carlo.

Family and friends will be gathering at the home of Eric Stinson’s located at 8942 Hwy 41A immediately following the graveside service.
