HENDERSON, Ky. - Viola Haner, age 89, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 25, 2013, at Methodist Hospital, Henderson, KY.
Haner was the only child born to Alves and Elva Young in 1924. In her twenty's she moved to Henderson, where she met and married her husband Henry C. Haner. In their younger years they enjoyed dancing at the Moose Lodge. Viola was a very talented seamstress. She enjoyed making clothing for her daughters, and crocheting. Her children commonly joked that if their mom could see it she could sew it. Viola had read her Bible front to back numerous times. She also enjoyed fishing and still had her current fishing license; she had a green thumb and could grow anything. Viola especially loved Elvis, music, and movies.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 46 years Henry C. Haner.
Survivors include: 2 Daughters: Dorothy Jean Young and husband Randall, Barbara Ann Banken and husband Randall Henderson, KY; 1 Son: Gary Lee Haner and wife Carolyn Coxs Creek, KY; 6 Grandchildren: Shelly Melloy and husband Phillip, Steven Young and wife Marian All of Henderson, KY, Sean Haner Coxs Creek, KY, Kris Haner and wife Abbie Newburgh, IN, Matthew Joseph Banken Clifton, NJ, Autumn Murphy and husband Nathan Henderson, KY; 12 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to Viola's Life Celebration from 2:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2013 and again on Thursday starting at 9:00AM until service time at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the funeral home with the Reverend Wayne Burt officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
