HENDERSON, Ky. - Alma Francis Walters Hubbard, age 76, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 8:10 AM, Sunday, April 7, 2013, at her home under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice.
Mrs. Hubbard was born in 1936 to a large family of 7 girls and 3 boys. She was raised in the mountains and considered herself to be a "tomboy". Alma worked in various industries for over 30 years and retired from Gamco after 20 years. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and canning food. She was an avid quilter, a talent she inherited from her mother. In her later years Alma, also enjoyed word search games, Yahtzee and she loved Elvis.
Alma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years Homer Hubbard, her parents George and Della Walters, 2 brothers Fred and Kay Walters, and 2 sisters Betty Daffron and Rosie Hall.
Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Wanda Helmick and husband Rick Henderson, KY; 2 Sons: Robert Hubbard and wife Jerrie Henderson, KY, Mark Hubbard and Frank Ruiz Henderson, KY; 4 Sisters: Darlene McFadden London, KY, Thelma Marshall Noblesville, IN, Mary Fleming Apopka, FL, Dorothy Garrison Monticello, KY; 1 Brother: Anderson Walters Somerset, KY; 4 Grandsons; 4 Great Grandsons; Nieces and Nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Alma's Life Celebration from 2:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2013 and again on Wednesday starting at 11:00 AM until service time at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the funeral home with the Reverend Hollis Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to: St. Anthony's Hospice or charity of choice.
