HENDERSON, Ky. - Herbert Frederick Hoffman, age 96, of Henderson, KY, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Western KY Veteran's Center, Hanson, KY.

Herb was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and was a retired oil and gas producer. He served as Director of Civil Defense for Henderson City and County for more than 25 years. Herb was a veteran having served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Seabees and KY Historical Society and was a KY Colonel and a KY Admiral.

Mr. Hoffman was active in many local charitable and civic organizations. Herb was an honorary lifetime member of the Henderson Rotary Club with a perfect attendance record for more than fifty years. He also served on the boards of the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, YMCA, Boy Scouts of America, Social Service Advisory Board, United Way Fund Drive, Chamber of Commerce, Knight of Columbus, Henderson County Farm Bureau, and Henderson County Public Library. Herb was active in the Toastmasters Club, Mensa International, Board of Realtors, and Henderson Area KY Colonels.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Jane Roberts Hoffman, his parents George and Freada Hoffman, and two brothers George A. Hoffman and Robert A. Hoffman.

Survivors include: Brother-in-Law: Joseph B. Roberts; Sister-in-Law: Joann Roberts Both of Henderson, KY; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Herbert's Life Celebration from 1:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, April 18, 2013 and again on Friday starting at 9:00 to 11:30 AM at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Anthony Shonis at 12:00 PM, Friday, April 19, 2013 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Henderson, KY. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Henderson, KY. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to: Western KY Veteran's Center, 926 Veterans Dr. Hanson, KY 42413.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Henderson Rotary Club. Active Pallbearers will be Nephews.
