Darrel Eugene Chaney, age 58, of Henderson, KY

HENDERSON, Ky. - Darrel Eugene Chaney, age 58, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 11:00 PM, Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Chaney's family owned and operated the former Frank G. Schmitt Co. He started working there at a very young age, continuing until it closed in 2007. He attended 7th Street Elementary School, and City High graduating in 1973. Darrel completed his Associates degree in Business at Henderson Community College.

He was a member and past Elder of First Christian Church. Darrel was also a member of the Jerusalem Masonic Lodge #9, Henderson Shrine Club, Scottish Rite, and Optimist Club. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed boating, guns, and computer games.

Darrel was preceded in death by his parents Judge Eugene and Hazel Chaney.

Survivors include: His beloved dog: Murphy; 1 Son: Mike Chaney & his husband Curtis Basham; 2 Grandchildren: Austin Chaney & D'Vontae Chaney; Cousins & other extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited to Darrel's Life Celebration from 2-8 PM Wednesday, and again on Thursday starting at 9:00 AM at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. Masonic service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
