Elmer Florentine Carver, age 68, of Spottsville, KY

3cloudHENDERSON, Ky. - Elmer Florentine Carver, age 68, of Spottsville, KY, passed away at 8:50am, Saturday, June 8, 2013, at his home under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice.

Elmer was born at the family farm in 1945 to parents Florentine and Roberta Carver in Reed, KY. He attended Reed Elementary, Spottsville Middle and Henderson County High Schools. He started hunting when he was big enough to walk and had a reputation as being a rascal as a child. He was a country boy who was raised up with guns, his beagle and his coon hounds.

Elmer met the love of his life, Joyce, in 1960 and married her two years later. They stayed in Henderson County and raised their family. When he wasn't busy with his work in management at Green River Trucking, he enjoyed raising a garden. He raised pigs and other animals as well. He loved listening to his country music.

Elmer Carver was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Carver, his brother, Wallace Carver and a son- in-law, John Wesley King.

Survivors include: Wife of 51 years: Joyce Carver Spottsville, KY; 4 Daughters: Shirley King, Tina Shelton and husband Tony, Tracey Tapp and husband Jimmy, Lesia Phelps and husband Gary all of Henderson, KY; 2 Sons: Roy Carver and wife Melissa, Randy Carver and wife Lori both of Henderson, KY; Father: Florentine "Teenie" Carver Henderson, KY; 1 Sister: Sue Lambert and husband Larry White Plains, KY; 14 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren (and 2 on the way); Nieces and Nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Elmer's Life Celebration from 2:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, June 11, 2013 and again on Wednesday starting at 9:00am at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday at the funeral home with Evangelist Henry W. Carver and Reverend Dwight R. Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Reed, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice.
