4flowerHENDERSON, Ky. - Dorris G. (Deke) Risley, age 77, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 10:52 AM, Monday, June 10, 2013, at St. Anthony's Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson.

Dorris was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Risley was the son of James, a coal miner, and Charlotte, a homemaker. He attended Hebbardsville High School. After graduating he worked for a while before being drafted by the U.S. Army. He served 2 years on active duty. Upon returning home he worked for the Technical Tape Company which later became CPS Corporation. Dorris met his future wife, Regina in 1965 and they were married in 1966. Dorris enjoyed yard work and raising vegetable gardens. He was self-taught in wood working, having a personal "library" of wood working books. With that knowledge, he remodeled his home, and also built a rip-rap rock wall on the bank of his lawn to keep from mowing it.

Dorris was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Risley, parents James and Charotte, and sister Betty Bingemer.

Survivors include: 3 Daughters: Debbie Puryear and husband Clint Bowling Green, KY, Donna Ford Henderson, KY, Darla Harris and husband Marvin Bowling Green, KY; 2 Sisters: Nancy Gresham Sevierville, TN, Vickie Wallace Henderson, KY; 1 Brother: William Risley Henderson, KY; 1 Brother-in-Law: Garland Bingemer Henderson, KY; 6 Grandchildren: Jay Puryear & Sarah Nelson Henderson, KY, Neal and Stuart Puryear, Amber and Breanna Harris All of Bowling Green, KY; 2 Great Grandchildren: Daniel Nelson & Elizabeth Mattingly.

Relatives and friends are invited to Dorris' Life Celebration from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2013 and again on Thursday starting at 10:00 AM until service time at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home with the Reverend Dan Book officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Hebbardsville, KY. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.

Pallbearers will be Jay Puryear, Neal Puryear, Stuart Puryear, Mike Risley, Clint Puryear, and Marvin Harris.

Honorary Pallbearers: Kenny Wallace & Garland Bingemer.
