sky2HENDERSON, Ky. - Anna VanCleve Utley, age 100, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 9:10 PM, Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at her home under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice.

Anna was born in 1912 in Spottsville to Bernice and Eula VanCleve. She grew up with her seven siblings working alongside her parents on the farm. She attended Spottsville schools and graduated from Barret Manuel Training High School. In 1936 she married the love of her life, Edward "Red" Utley, Jr. Together, in 1941, they formed the Edward Utley, Jr. Company handling soft drinks transitioning to a beer distributorship. They became a Budweiser distributer in 1942. In 1971 they incorporated the business and it is still run by their sons and grandsons. It is one of the oldest distributorships in the country still family owned and operated.

Anna loved being a mother and being active alongside her children; even being a Cub Scout Den Mother. She worked with the Hospital Auxiliary during the 1960s. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church. Some of her favorite hobbies were doing cross word puzzles and listening to Big Band music.

In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded by her husband of 55 years, Edward "Red" Utley Jr., her four brothers: John, Tommy, Durwood, and Carl VanCleve, and her two sisters Cecile Beliles and Lottyee Mae VanCleve.

Survivors include: 3 Sons: Ronnie Utley and wife Hattie Ann, Buddy Utley and wife Sharon, Jim Utley and wife Janice All of Henderson, Ky; 1 Sister: Louetta Huffman Perrysburg, OH; 7 Grandchildren: Billy, Mike, Mark, Jamie, Bobby, Allen, and Jennifer; 13 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; Nieces and Nephews/ Caregivers: Angel Gibson, Becky Brock, Shelli Winstead, Payne Bickett, Christan Berry and Mary Kate Abercrombie

Relatives and friends are invited to Anna Utley's Life Celebration from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, July 11, 2013 and again on Friday starting at 9:00 until service time at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at the funeral home with Reverend Ted Burke officiating. Entombment will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
