Walter Thomas 'Tom' Barron, Sr., 77

HENDERSON, Ky. - Walter Thomas 'Tom' Barron, Sr., 77, passed away Sunday October 6, 2013 at 10:07PM at Lucy Smith King Care Center. He was born in Henderson on September 26, 1936 to William Frank Barron, Sr. and Frances Belle (Combest) Barron.

Tom retired from Gibbs after 29 years. He was also currently a Henderson County school bus driver and had been driving for the past 27 years. During his years as a bus driver, he developed a passion for getting the archery, band Choir and ROTC members to their events and watching them compete. Tom worked at Starlight Drive-in from the day the doors opened until it closed in 2005. He was a Ky Colonel and a Staff Sargent for the National Guard for 30 years.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife Nola (Lancaster) Barron and 1 sister Jean Frances Thompson.

He is survived by 3 children: Walter Thomas Barron, Jr. of Henderson, Haley Barron Morton and husband Jeff of Robards, Timothy Barron of Henderson; 4 sisters: Elizabeth Gibson of Indiana, Elaine Dixon of Indianapolis, Indiana, Linda Powers of Henderson, Judy Green of Henderson; 3 Brothers: William Frank Barron, Jr. of Fishers, Indiana, Joe Billy Barron of Indianapolis, Indiana, Robert Dean Barron of Henderson; 11 Grandchildren: Joshua Barron, Nicholas Barron, Brianna Barron, Tristan Barron, Kelsie Helms, Lauren Barron, Mary Barron, Jeremiah Barron, Crystal Leadbeater, Hunter Morton and Forrest Morton; Nieces and Nephews.

Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday October 10, 2013 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Bro. Rick Nollmann will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.

Visitation will be Wednesday 1-8PM and Thursday 10AM until service time at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Henderson County Archery or St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Barron, John Potts, Nicholas Barron, Tristan Barron, Hunter Morton and Forrest Morton.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jeremiah Barron.
