CCPD Shop with a Cop Sets Record

shop cop deskCENTRAL CITY, Ky. (12/24/13) — For more than 18 years, the Central City Police Department has helped put smiles on children’s faces with the CPD Shop With A Cop Christmas fund raiser. Each year, funds are raised to help children, who otherwise would not have Christmas gifts.

Central City Police Chief Brent Roberson said this year’s donations are a record breaker.

“This is the best response ever in the history of the event.” Roberson said.

“This year we raised over $5,000 from individuals and businesses throughout the county,” he said. “This allowed us to spend $100 for 50 different children, who otherwise would not have any Christmas.”

“We hope to keep building on our momentum, so we’ll be sending out letters to those who helped out this year, and try to find new sources so we can help even more needy children in the Central City area in 2014.” Roberson said.

”One big positive with this event is that it gives both police officers and children the chance to see each other in a more positive circumstances,” said Roberson.
