Iva Jean Puryear, 87, Henderson, Ky.

HENDERSON, Ky. (3/31/14) — Iva Jean Puryear, 87, of Henderson, Ky., passed away 10:31 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital.

She was born Feb. 12, 1927 in Union County to Herman and Laurine Pinkston. She had been the supervisor of the dietary department at Methodist Hospital for 25 years. She was also the church secretary for the Henderson Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Louis Raymond Puryear in 2008. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Jean Mallis and husband Victor of Heber Springs, Ariz. and Sandra Kay Turpin of Troy, Mo., two sons, Gary Raymond Puryear and wife Clydeen of Dixon, Ky., Darrell Lee Puryear and wife Tabitha of Greenville, Ky., one sister, Nataline Jenkins of Henderson, Ky., seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Iva Jean Puryear’s Life Celebration from 1 - 3 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Henderson Church of Christ, 1202 N. Green St. The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. at the church with Neal Mathis officiating. Burial will be Monday 9 a.m. at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, Ky.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Henderson Church of Christ building fund, 1202 N. Green Street, Henderson, Ky. 42420.

Pallbearers will be Brad Turpin, Jonathan Mallis, Shawn Puryear, Michael Parks, James McDuffie, Brent Asher, Casey Southern and Eric Puryear.
