South Carrollton Woman Injured in Head-on Collision

accident with injuries ambulanceWEIR, Ky. (4/16/14) — A South Carrollton woman injured in a head-on collision Wednesday, April 16 on Kentucky 600 just south of Weir.

According to a Kentucky State Police report, Cary Daugherty, 33, of Greenville was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra about 12:06 p.m. headed west on Kentucky 600 about two miles south of Weir while Elizabeth Groves, 40, of South Carrollton, was driving a 2006 Chrysler Sebring headed east.

As Daugherty negotiated a hill and curve on the roadway, his vehicle drifted into the eastbound lane, where it struck Groves' vehicle head on.

Groves was transported to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment of her injuries. Daugherty was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and no passengers were involved.

Trooper Jerrod Hearld investigated the collision. Trooper Craig Engler, Muhlenberg County EMS and the Greenville Fire Department assisted at the scene.
