Camp Superpower Students to Show Off Projects, Reading Abilities and Artwork at Luncheon

kid-readingOWENSBORO, Ky. (7/17/14) — Camp Superpower students will have the opportunity to showcase their projects and share what they have learned during this summer's OPS reading camp Thursday, July 24, 11 a.m. when parents and other invited guests join them at Foust Elementary School, 601 Foust Ave. For a pizza luncheon on their last day of camp.

Sixty-eight Primary 1 students from all five OPS elementary schools (Cravens, Estes, Foust, Newton Parrish and Sutton) have participated in 6 weeks of camp during June and July.

The camp has focused on reading, including one-on-one time with reading specialists, but students have also had lots of opportunities to participate in other activities centered around the camp's theme of "Animal Superpowers." Artwork that reflects the theme decorates the walls and students have created a variety of projects.

While at camp, students have received 10 books each to take home, t-shirts and have gotten to go on field trips.

The camp has been made possible by a grant from the Public Life Foundation.
