HENDERSON, KY - Lou (Shorty) Etta Butler, 60, Henderson, passed away into the loving arms of God at 1:06 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro.
Lou Etta was born March 15, 1951, in Henderson. She was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Butler and Mary Elizabeth Cobb Butler.
She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Henderson, graduate of Douglass High School in Henderson, employed with the Accuride Corp. in Henderson for more than 27 years and a member of the Black Independence Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Butler and Dineda "Pam" Butler; three brothers, Willie Butler, Ronnis Butler and Jerome Butler; and her granddaughter, Myra Carter.
She leaves behind to cherish loving memories three daughters, Cessley Carter, Lecharla Carter and Ashley Carter, all of Henderson; two sons, Tony Butler and his wife, Shelly, and Danzell Carter, both of Henderson; two sisters, Carolyn Woodruff and her husband, Claude, and Doralene Green and her husband, Richard, all of Henderson; two brothers, Leslie Butler and his wife, Valerie, of Evansville, and Nathaniel Butler of Henderson; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Her life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at First Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson. The Rev. Robert A. Esters will officiate. Her resting place will be in Fernwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
