HENDERSON, KY - Margaret (Mamaw) Louise Johnston, 90, Henderson, born June 2, 1921, in Corydon, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Redbanks nursing home.
She was a member of Dayspring Church of God of Prophecy. She cared for several children throughout her life whom she treated and loved as her own, two of which were very special to her, Nathan Correll and Jacob Correll.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernice Eugene Johnston, who passed away in 1993; one daughter, Shirley Ruth Tooley, who passed away in 2006; and one grandson, Timothy Louis McElyea, who passed away in 1999.
Survivors include two granddaughters, whom she raised as her own, Brenda Bush and her husband, Scott, and Shelby McElyea, all of Henderson; one son, Ronnie Eugene Johnston and his wife, Betty, of Piave, Miss.; one daughter, Carolyn Holland and her husband, Gene, of Plymouth, Mich.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.
Brother Don Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Bush, Brian Tooley, Todd Johnston, Scott Johnston, Chris Baker and Mark Holland.
The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for the loving care that the Southport personnel at Redbanks nursing home showed Mamaw during her time with them.
