Arleen Griggs, 68, Henderson

 

obit12HENDERSON, KY - Arleen Griggs, 68, Henderson, passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family and friends after a two-year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born in Bradley, Ky., to Darlie and Grace Lykins.

She was a member of Bennett Memorial United Methodist Church and was a beautician for many years. She enjoyed her family, sports, her flowers and working in the yard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Howard, Willard, J.W. and Jack Lykins; and one sister, Virginia McCully.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Truman Griggs, of Henderson; two daughters, Kelly Arleen Walters and her husband, Cleatus, of Corydon and Shelly Griggs of Dallas, Texas; one granddaughter, Jessica Arleen Walters of Evansville; one brother, Raymond Lykins of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Betty Reynolds of Henderson and Brenda Margelot of Sebree; faithful friend Freda Kemp of Henderson; nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home in Henderson. The Rev. Will Campbell officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson.

Pallbearers were Travis Baird, Tracy Hagen, James Littrell, Otis Bradley, Babby Adler and Dr. Thomas Morgan.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice and Bennett Memorial United Methodist Church.

Arrangements entrusted to Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.
