Courtney Quirey Jr., 87, Sturgis

 

obit-sunrisetreeWEBSTER COUNTY, KY - Courtney Quirey Jr., 87, Sturgis, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 at Methodist Hospital Union County in Morganfield.

He was retired from Peabody Coal Co. and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.C. Sr. and Bobbie Courtney, and his wife Wanda, who passed away in 2009.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Steward of Sturgis, and Linda Lisman of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Barbara Sprague of Henderson; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. The Rev. Don Phelps will officiate.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
