Gloria Henderson Hedges, age 87

 

blueskyHENDERSON, KY - Gloria Henderson Hedges, age 87, long time member of the Henderson community, formerly of Dallas, Georgia, passed away at 8:13 AM, Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry Martin Henderson and Pearl Westbrook Henderson.

Mrs. Hedges was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Dallas High School and then attended the University of Kentucky. For many years she was an employee of the Henderson County School system at Weaverton Elementary School, North Middle School and Henderson Community College. She was active in her community especially recently in her church as an office volunteer and choir singer, on the board of the Friends of Henderson Public Library and serving as a tireless volunteer at the Henderson Fine Arts Center.

Survivors include: Husband of 64 years: J.W. (Bill) Hedges; 2 Sons: Tom Hedges and wife Susie, David Hedges and wife Linda Morningstar; 2 Daughters: Virginia Kohl and husband Ron, Janet Hillyard; 6 Grandchildren: Melissa, Rachel, Martin, Emily, C.J. and Sam; Many family members in the Dallas, Georgia area.

Memorial Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Presbyterian Church of Henderson. Reverend John Guthrie will officiate.

Friends may call from 10:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Presbyterian Church of Henderson or your favorite charity.
