Donald E. Cooper, 78, Henderson

 

HENDERSON, KY - Donald E. Cooper, 78, Henderson, passed away at 10:37 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at his daughter's home under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice after a seven-year battle with cancer.

He retired from Life and Casualty Insurance Company as an agent and manager and had owned and operated Cooper Tax Service along with his daughter. He was a Navy veteran.

Donald was an avid golfer having won many trophies. He was a family man who loved spending time with his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Parker and Travis Walleen Womack Cooper; one sister, Shirley Overfield; and one nephew, Darrell Cooper.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen Dossett and her husband, Don, both of Henderson; two brothers, Michael Cooper and his wife, Mary, and James Cooper and his wife, Helen, all of Henderson; three grandchildren, Mindy Dossett Ligon and her husband, Chris, Kelsey Dossett and Brynn Dossett, all of Henderson; two great-grandchildren, Emmy Ligon and Jesse Ligon; three nieces, Sarah Cooper Powell, Debbie Overfield and Delana Alvey; and three nephews, Mark Cooper, Jeff Cooper and Ricky Cooper.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Rev. Keith Griffin will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, with full military rites performed by American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.

Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Powell, Chris Ligon, Billy Plum, Sidney Stone, Richard Faulconer and John Mason.
