Martha Lois Rhodes, 91, of Madisonville, KY

 

Mary rhodesHOPKINS COUNTY, KY - Martha Lois Rhodes, 91, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at NHC Health Care in Madisonville.

She was born May 14, 1920 in Dekoven, KY to the late Bryant Lee Thornsberry and Mila Niece Caldwell Thornsberry. She was also preceded in death by her husband Willis Rhodes in 2005; one daughter Betty Rhodes and two brothers.

Mrs. Rhodes was a member of the First Christian Church. She was past president of the American Legion post 6 where she was a member for 61 years. She was a past president of the PTA, a member of the Eastern Star and was a Cub Scout Leader.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Lee) Alexander and Elaine (Rolley) Josleyn both of Madisonville; one son, Steven (Carolyn) Rhodes of Lexington, SC; six grandchildren, Cliff Alexander, Darlene Franklin, , Kevin Rhodes, Kent Rhodes, Roni Richards and Dale Wagoner; seven great grandchildren, Brad Gamblin, Mitchell Gamblin, Emerald Striplin, Jon Wagoner, James Wagoner, Hannah Richardson and Corbin Kenny; and two great great grandchildren, Melody Striplin and Cedric Gamblin..

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 27, 2012, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Kim Hudson and Rev. Don McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. .

Visitation will be 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday and after 12:00 P.M. until the service time on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Madisonville First Christian Church or the Earlington First Christian Church.
