NORTONVILLE, KY - Edith Ann Pendley Miller, 72 of Nortonville passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born November 5, 1939 to the late Renzy Oliver Pendley and Anges Lee Blades Pendley.
Edith was always active in the community and schools and loved being a major part of her children and grandchildren’s lives. She started her working career in high school as car hop waitress at Faye’s Drive In Restaurant; also she worked several years as a Office Secretary for J.C. Penny’s and South Hopkins High School.
In March of 1959, Edith married John Thomas “Tommy” Miller. Together they owned and operated Faye’s Drive In Restaurant for 16 years and then bought and operated the Dixie Pan Restaurant for 19 years.
Edith was a member of the Nortonville First Christian Church; member of #243 Order of the Eastern Star; held Worthy Matron and other Offices; she also served as Deputy Grand Matron of KY and was proud to be a KY Colonel. Edith loved to travel and always kept herself busy with her needlework, crafts, or making anyone near her feel special.
Edith is survived by her husband of 52 wonderful years, Tommy Miller; two sons, Paul Alan Miller and John Thomas Miller, Jr. both of Madisonville; five grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Barber, Daniel (Katie) Barber, Dustin (Liz) Barber, Kara Lynn Miller, and Leah Ashley Miller; and three great grandchildren: Lilly Jo Barber, Rory Barber, and Westin Barber.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Jo Miller Barber.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday at Bandy Funeral Home, Nortonville with Bro. Ron Henn officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-8pm and Thursday 9-11am. Interment will be at New Salem Cemetery in Nortonville. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Pallbearers are Chris Holmes, Tony Holmes, Dustin Barber, Daniel Barber, Scott Collinsworth, and Zachary Collinsworth.
