MADISONVILLE, KY - James Thomas Day, 79, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Regional Medical Center.
He was born December 26, 1932 in Evansville, IN to the late William and Ruth Dame Day.
Mr. Day was a 1951 graduate of Madisonville High School, 1955 Graduate of University of Kentucky, a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, four year letterman at the University of Kentucky as a baseball pitcher, was a Pilot for the US Air Force, 50 year Kiwanian, and a member of the Dawson Springs Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Beth Lewis Day of Madisonville; three daughters, Ann (Mark) Downer of Louisville, KY, Ruth Cecelia Day of Jacksonville, FL, and Laura (Grafton) Black of Lexington, KY; one son, James Thomas (Rhonda) Day Jr. of Louisville; and seven grandchildren, Celia, Caroline and William Downer, all of Louisville, Grant and Sarah Black both of Lexington, Connor and Olivia Day both of Louisville.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Elder Jeff Winfrey officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Madisonville.
Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jim Martin, Mark Downer, Will Downer, Grafton Black, Grant Black, and Danny Basham.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
