John Joseph Martin, Sr., 89, of Madisonville, KY

 

MADISONVILLE, KY - John Joseph Martin, Sr., 89, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012 at his sons home in Madisonville.

He was born on January 29, 1923 in Natick, MA to the late Hugh F. Martin and Grace L. Henderson Martin. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a photographer and owner of Martin Photo and retired as a printer with American Printing in Madisonville. He was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Juanita Miller Martin and an infant daughter, Jeanne Dawn Martin.

He is survived by his son, John (Danyel) Martin, Jr. of Madisonville; two granddaughters, Madyson Martin of Madisonville and Melissa (Zach) Latham of Evansville, IN; a brother, Lloyd (Janet) Martin of Framingham, MA and a step-grandson, Eddie Burke of Madisonville.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Jim Lantrip officiating. Military services will be conducted graveside by 101st Airborne Division, Ft. Campbell, KY and the Hopkins County Honor Guard with burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from noon until the service hour Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
