Lairy Wayne Nofsinger, 76 of Mortons Gap, KY

 

nofsinger 300MORTONS GAP, KY - Lairy Wayne Nofsinger, 76 of Mortons Gap, KY passed away Friday March 2, 2012 at 6:05 AM at his home.

He was born in Chicago, IL on February 18, 1936 to the late Joseph Nofsinger and Marilou (Medlock) Nofsinger Gatlin.

He is a member and elder of Mortons Gap Christian Church, Lay minister at Suthards Christian Church for 4 years and taught school for 35 years at Earlington, Seminary, Madisonville North Hopkins and South Hopkins Schools. He was a graduate of Ky Wesleyan College and Western Kentucky University. He was a recruiter for KY Wesleyan. He was a member of the Hopkins County Board of Education and had also served on the Hopkins County Red Cross board and Hopkins County Library board for 8 years. He was a member of the Kiwanis where he served as president. He coached swimming at Madisonville North Hopkins, South Hopkins and Madisonville Country Club.

He was precded in death by his father and a brother-in-law Kenneth Moore.

He is survived by his wife; Jean (Whitaker) Nofsinger; Mother, Marilou Gatlin of Mortons Gap, KY; Children, David (Whitney) Nofsinger of Louisville, KY, Sara (Marlon) Jones of Bowling Green, KY, Matt Nofsinger of Louisville, KY; Grandchildren, Harper and Willis Hayden Nofsinger and Andru Jones; Brothers; Donnie (Glenita) Noffsinger of Hopkinsville, KY, Billy (Ann) Gatlin of Mt. Juliett, TN; Sisters, Charlotte Ditty of Jackson, KY, Sylvia Moore of Lexington, KY; Nieces and Nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Mortons Gap Christian Church. Rev. Steve Sandefur will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 until 7:00 at Mortons Gap Christian Church and Monday 9:00 AM until service time.

Reid-Walters Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Green River Hospice, Red Cross, Hopkins County Humane Society, or Lairy Nofsinger Memorial Fund c/o Kentucky Wesleyan College, 3000 Frederika St. Owensboro, KY 42301
