Katherine Imogene Ledbetter, 88, of Madisonville, KY

ledbetter KathMADISONVILLE, KY -Katherine Imogene Ledbetter, 88, of Madisonville Kentucky, passed away at 1:00 am Thursday morning March 8th at Moberly Manor Rest Home {Sayre Christian Village} in Lexington Kentucky.

Imogene, as she was always called, and was her preference, was born in Earlington Kentucky March 8th 1924 to the late Robert Flint and Ola Mae Utley. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Marion Utley, and one sister, Wilma Day.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, the Reverend Roelan J. Ledbetter, two sons Ronald and Stephen Ledbetter, one sister Dorothy Doehring (Nashville, ILL), a first cousin Shirley Purdy , eight grandchildren; Aaron, Ashley, Matthew, Stephen, Natalie, Jonathan, Allen and Katy. She leaves six great grandchildren; Abby, Mason, Eli, Ronnie, Conner and Cayden. She also leaves nieces, Faye Ledbetter Walker and Patty Atwell Ledbetter.

Mrs. Ledbetter was a long standing member of the Madisonville First Christian Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of District 14 Christian Womens Fellowship, Director of the Last Supper portrayal for many years, and President of her Missionary Circle for two terms.

Imogene worked along with her lay minister husband to help develop Christian Churches in Kentucky, who were without ministers and followed him on those assignments. She was a devoted housewife and loving Mother to her family.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 12, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Madisonville with Rev. Don McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Beulah Cemetery, in Beulah Kentucky. Visitation will be 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Sayre Christian Village in Lexington Kentucky.
