Robert Callis Barnes, 82, formerly of Nortonville, KY

 

NORTONVILLE, KY - Robert Callis Barnes, 82, formerly of Nortonville, KY, passed away March 14, 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia at The Fountainview Center for Alzheimer's. He was born May 22, 1929 to the late CE and Mary Lou Kilgore Barnes.
 
Mr. Barnes was a retired welder for Peabody Coal Company, where he never missed a day. He was known for his ability to "Fix" anything and always willing to give a "Helping Hand". He had a love for conversation and never met an unfriendly face.
 
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dorothy Eugena Lester Barnes, his son, Robert Mitchell Barnes and his partner, Craig Weaver of Atlanta, GA, and Anita Carol Cornelius and her husband, Billy Joe Cornelius, of Lexington, KY; daughter in law, Charlene Webster of Orlando, FL, and two grandchildren, Dionne Cornelius Thompson, of Occoquan, VA and Michael Christopher Goodwin, of Tampa, FL. Mr. Barnes also had several nieces and nephews and one very blessed family friend, Rita C. Duncan.  He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend.
 
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Wayne Goodwin.
 
Visitation will be Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Bandy Funeral Home, Nortonville, KY from 11 am - 1 pm. Funeral service to begin at 1 pm with Bro. Ron Henn officiating.   Burial to follow at New Salem Cemetery.  Condolences may be made at bandyfuneralhome.com.
