William Ray Scott, 77 of White Plains, KY

 

SCOTT WILLIAMWHITE PLAINS, KY - William Ray Scott, 77 of White Plains, KY passed away in the early morning hours of March 16, 2012.

He was born on Feb. 21, 1935 to the late Jack and Juanita (Rickard) Scott. Mr. Scott served proudly as a Staff Sergeant for twenty years in U.S. Army serving in Germany and a tour in Vietnam. His appreciation of the outdoors led him to a career with the Division of Forestry from which he retired. Ray dearly loved his family and church family at White Plains Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Hildegard Scott; one son, Jeff Scott; one granddaughter, Savannah with whom he held a special bond, two sisters, Anita (Alton) Lear and Judy (Gene) Lear, and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, and two brothers, Eugene and Donnie Scott.

Friends may call Monday 5-8pm and Tuesday 9-10am at Bandy Funeral Home, Nortonville. Services will be Tuesday at 10am with Bro. James Watkins officiating. Burial will be immediately following at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, Hopkinsville with full military rites.

Pallbearers will be Mike Dickerson, Glenn Campbell, Stan Howard, Ricky Scott, Troy Blakley, and Stephen Lear. Honorary Pallbearers are Gene Lear and Alton Lear.
