MADISONVILLE, KY - Donald Everett Robinson of Madisonville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing and Rehab Facility. He was born November 3, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to the late Everett Robinson and Robbie Prather Robinson.
He was president and manager of Madisonville Tire and Retreading for 49 years. He was a graduate of Madisonville High School and Depauw University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954. He was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church and served in leadership positions in the Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janelle Lane Robinson; son, James Lane Robinson, and daughter, Julia Phar.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Robinson; son, Ray Robinson; two step-sons, Greg Coyle and Barry Coyle; one brother, Monte Robinson; five grandchildren, Kathleen Phelan, Ross Phar, Jacob Robinson, Zachary Robinson, and Averie Robinson; four step-grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two nephews and a niece.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville with Rev. Weyman McGuire officiating. Entombment will follow in Madisonville Mausoleum at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday and from 10:00 AM until the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
