Eddie Gene Lyons, 76, of Madisonville, KY

lyons eddieHOPKINS COUNTY, KY - Eddie Gene Lyons, 76, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

He was born on December 16, 1935 in Madisonville, KY to the late Eula Robinson Lyon and Orvis Jack Lyon. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Peabody Coal Company and was a service station operator of Parkway Shell for over 30 years. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Madisonville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Edward Lyons and his brother, Darnell "Doc" Lyon.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Joan Lyons; his son, Robert Lyons of Cincinnati, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2012 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Andy Haley officiating and Will Coursey assisting. Military honors will be conducted graveside by the Hopkins County Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour Sunday at Harris Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
