Donald R. Johnson, 74, of Madisonville, KY

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Donald R. Johnson, 74, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Baptist Health Madisonville.

He was born on May 14, 1938 in Nortonville, KY to the late Lee Johnson and Frances Briggs Johnson. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and had worked as a "Rough Neck" on an oil drilling platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Johnson and his brother, Billy Johnson.

He is survived by his sister, Joann Johnson of Mayfield, KY; two nieces, Margaret Furgerson and Patti Vandemark both of Mayfield, KY; and his nephew, Jimmy Pendley of Madisonville.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in Hanson Cemetery in Hanson, KY with Rev. Phillip Sullivan officiating. Military services will be conducted graveside by the Hopkins County Honor Guard with burial to follow.

There will be no visitation. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville is in charge of arrangements.
