Lenora M. (Pat) Shields, 86, of Madisonville, KY

 

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Lenora M. (Pat) Shields, 86, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 2:24 P.M. at Baptist Health in Madisonville.

She was born March 13, 1926 in Hopkins Co., TX to the late Pleas and Katie Richters. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Louis E. Shields, Sr. in 2005 and one son, Louis E. (Eddie) Shields, Jr. in 2012, two sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Elwanda Jo Shields of Madisonville and Etta (Paul) Coyle of Manitou, KY; four granddaughters, Kimberly Kirkwood (Gary) Nelson; Dana Kirkwood (Dr. Jeff) Adkins; Francie Short (Steve) Powell; and Dr. Daniel (Betsy) Kirkwood; 17 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and two brothers, Joe Richters and Thomas Richters.

Pat was a much loved mother and grandmother who cared for a head-injured son for 28 years and a dear friend to all who knew her. She attended Lighthouse Church on occasion with her daughter.

Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Hendricks and Rev. Sam Beeny officiating. Burial will follow in Pride-Bordley in Union Co., KY.

Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday and after 9:00 A.M. until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Paul G. Coyle, Steve Wiles, Steve Powell, Michael Shields, Blaine Skeen and Joseph Nance. Honorary pallbearers will be Orville Chidester, W. Troy Shields, Bill Shields and Gary Nelson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Baptist Health for their loving care.
