HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Charles Allen Harris, 82, of Hanson, KY, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson.
He was born September 23, 1930 in Westmoreland, TN to the late Hubert and Myrtle Harris. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Pillow.
Mr. Harris was a proud Army Veteran serving from 1948-1958. Charles worked as a carpenter with Armour Home; coal miner at P&M Drake #4 and retired from the Hopkins Co. School Systems as a custodian at Hanson Elementary. He was a member of the Christian Tabernacle Church in Madisonville.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Harris; one son, Steven (Lisa) Harris of Hanson; one daughter, Melissa Harris of Nashville, TN; two granddaughters, Laura (Chad) Armstrong and Stephanie Harris of Madisonville; one brother, Robert Harris of Hanson; three sisters, Jo Harris of Madisonville; Clara Moore of Cape Girardeau, MO and Brenda Hermes of Newburgh, IN and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Junior Tingle officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Hopkins Co. Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
