HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Rev. John C. Burden resident of V.A. Center of Hanson, age 91 went to be with his Lord on January 31, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents Isiah and Dellar Ann Burden, two sisters, four brothers, and one son.

Rev. Burden is survived by his wife, Ethel Marie Burden of 66 years; two daughters, Sherrill Burden (Hooper), Claudia Burden (Green) both of Madisonville; one son, Paul (Sandra) Burden of Jacksonville, FL; one grandson, Aaron Hooper of Madisonville; one great granddaughter, Kendal Hooper of Nortonville; and one brother, William Ray Burden of Madisonville.

Brother Burden was a retired Southern Baptist minister of 52 years. Over the years John pastored several churches in Muhlenberg, Webster, and Hopkins Counties as well as being a veteran of WWII and a retired coal miner.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. February 3, 2013 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home conducted by Bro. Tondra Daughtery of Liberty Baptist Church, where John was a long time member. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Saturday, and after noon until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Paul Burden, Aaron Hooper, James Allen Burden, Ronnie Burden, Jamie Burden, Mac Wells, Andy Downey, and John David Betts.

Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Center Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
