HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Gene Johnson, 76, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Baptist Health Madisonville.
He was born on February 3, 1936 in Madisonville to the late Gracie Wells Johnson and Adam Red Johnson. He was retired as a dispatcher for Bestway Express. He loved fishing and gardening and was a member of Christview Fellowship Church in Madisonville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Johnson; his brother, Elmer Johnson; his sister, Mary Sue Thomas; and his infant son, Timothy Lee Johnson.
He is survived by his son, Bobby (Tiana) Johnson of Madisonville; two brothers, Bill Johnson of Madisonville and Jimmy Johnson of Florida; his sister, Sandi Sansbury of Louisville, KY; three grandchildren, Lilly Johnson, Monica Brannon and Jeremy Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Myles Johnson and Parker Brannon; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Christview Fellowship Church in Madisonville with Bro. Lonnie Strader officiating. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9a.m. until the service hour Saturday at Christview Fellowship Church.
