Vera Eli Mitchell, 100, of Dandridge, TN and formerly of Crofton, KY

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Vera Eli Mitchell, 100, of Dandridge, TN and formerly of Crofton, KY passed away on January 31, 2013 in Dandridge.

A native of Dawson Springs, KY born February 17, 192, she was the daughter of the late Henry Bennett Eli and Rillie Orten Eli. She was the widow of Walter Jewell Mitchell.

She taught school for a time in a one room schoolhouse and continued to teach elementary school after graduating from Western KY University. After her retirement, she and her husband owned and operated Ken-Ver Kennel, where they raised and trained Irish Setters for competitive showing. IN 1978, they moved to Dandridge.

She was a member of Dandridge Garden Club, Crofton Christian Church and the KY Education Association.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Crofton conducted by Rev. Steve Allen with burial to follow in Macedonia Cemetery, Pennyrile State Forest. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Macedonia Cemetery Association, Janie Phelps, Secretary, 20020 Dawson Springs Road, Dawson Springs, KY 42408.
