Arthur B. Clayton, 91, of Madisonville, KY

 

MADISONVILLE, KY - Arthur Bishop Clayton, 91, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Western KY Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.

He was born May 22, 1921 in Hopkins County to the late Lemuel Clayton and Ina Clayton. He was also preceded in death by his wife Ima West Clayton; one brother; and three sisters.

Mr. Clayton was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church, a WWII Army veteran medic of the European and Pacific Theatre, and retired as a farmer. He loved woodworking, gardening, U.K. basketball, and spoiling his grandkids and great grandkids.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda Sue (Fred) Webb of Madisonville; one son, Larry (Hope) Clayton of Hartford, KY; four grandchildren, Amy Hill, Kevin Webb, Crystal Clayton, and Lawson Clayton; and three great grandchildren, Preston and Spencer Hill, and Hadley Webb.

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Chaplain Sam Beeny officiating. Burial will follow in Hanson Cemetery in Hanson.

Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 9:00 A.M until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Joseph E. Ballard Veteran's Program Fund.
