Scott Austin Schaefer, age 12, of Madisonville, KY

 

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Scott Austin Schaefer, 12, of Madisonville, KY passed away February 13, 2013 at his home in Madisonville, KY

He was born January 26, 2001 in Madisonville, KY to Larry Schaefer and Kimberly McCoy Schaefer. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Larry McCoy, and William and Frances Schaefer.

Scott was a sixth grader at James Madison Middle School, where he was Patriot of the Year. He attended First Assembly of God and served as head usher. He loved Nascar and UK Basketball. The family wants to thank Hopkins County School Board for taking such great care, along with Kosair's Hospital and University of Louisville physicians. They are also deeply grateful for St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.

He is survived by his parents; one sister, Sarah Schaefer of Madisonville; his grandmother, Sharon McCoy of Madisonville; his aunt and uncles, Phyllis and Elmo Kennedy of Madisonville, David and Donna Harrison of Madisonville, and Billy and Terri Schaefer of Evansville; along with numerous other family members.

Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, February 16 2013 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Manning officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Rager, Matt Melton, Steve Gilliam, Scott Wells, Jon Wells, and Brandon McClain.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary's Foundation. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
