MADISONVILLE, KY - Mary Elizabeth Tapp, 94, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013 at NHC Healthcare of Madisonville.
She was born on May 30, 1918 in Madisonville, KY to the late Sig Arnold and Bessie Mae Butler Arnold. She was a homemaker and loving wife and mother to her family. She volunteered at 4H Club, Hopkins County Fair and was active in the PTA. She was active in Young at Heart and Return to Bethlehem at First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Homemakers Club for over sixty years. She was an officer of the Eastern Star for many years and was elected as Ambassador of Goodwill. She was a faithful member for sixty years at Rosecreek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Nebo, KY.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John "J.C." Calvin Tapp; her granddaughter, Jennifer Tapp; her son, Johnny Tapp; and her brother, Marvin Arnold.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Frisch of Louisville, KY; her son, Charles (Brenda) Tapp of Nebo, KY; her brother, Dr. M.E. Arnold of Madisonville; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Rosecreek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Nebo with Rev. Paul Stone officiating and Rev. Patrick Yates assisting. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Nebo. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday at Rosecreek Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rosecreek Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
