OWENSBORO, Ky. - James Edgar (Crane) White, born in Dawson Springs, KY on Aug. 7, 1926 departed on Mar. 17, 2013 and resided in Owensboro, KY. Crane was born to Clarence and Zelmar DeWitt White and big brother Allen in a logging camp in Dawson Springs, Ky. on Aug. 7, 1926. He passed away March 17, 2013.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving with the 138th Infantry in Japan and the Philippines in the Asiatic Pacific Theater; then later a corporal in the Army Reserves serving with the 101st Airborne Division from Camp Breckenridge in the Korean War, wounded on April 25th, 1951, one of the few survivors of the Chinese entrapment of the 555th Field Artillery in the Death Valley fight.
He is survived by his son James Jr. (Brenda Bruner) and his children Laura (John) Donahue and grandchildren Faith and Zachary and Dan White all of Ocala, FL; daughter Janice (Bill) Aldridge of Utica and her children Jason (Melissa) Aldridge and grandsons Jansen and Brandon of Owensboro and Karri (Ronnie) Bobo of Livermore and granddaughters Rileigh and Ashleigh Bobo; daughter Theresa(Rick) Dailey of Amelia Island, FL, her children Scott (Lorie) Hobbs of New York, Deena (Darrell) Vandersluis of Yulee, Fl., Kris Hobbs and Brittany Hobbs of Amelia Island, FL and her grandchildren Jacob and Savannah Silvers; and his niece Sandy (Frank) Gillim of Philpot.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred (Tootsie) White in Dec. 2000; daughter-in-law Brenda Skinner White in Dec. 2001; brother and sister-in-law Allen & Winona White and nephew Bruce White.
Services are 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro, KY. Burial is in Utica Cemetery. Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
