Eugene Carroll Fruit, 85 of Madisonville, KY

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Eugene Carroll Fruit, 85 of Madisonville, KY, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, IN.

He was born June 29, 1927 in Henderson, KY to the late William Andrew Fruit and Mattie Trusty Fruit. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Jane Sirkle and Dorothy Barnes and one brother, Edward Fruit.

Mr. Fruit was a retired railroad engineer. He was a Shriner and a member of the Jerusalem Masonic Lodge #9. He was also a US Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife Hellon Wade Fruit of Madisonville, KY; three sons, Gaylon Eugene (Cathy) Fruit of Tallahassee, FL; Christopher David Fruit of Newburgh, IN and Gregory Evan Fruit of Evansville, IN; one sister, Martha Matthews of Evansville, IN; three brothers, Richard Fruit of Cairo, KY; Charles Fruit of Henderson, KY and Jerry Fruit of Henderson, KY; four grandchildren; Joshua Gaylon Fruit of Tallahassee, FL; Maria Fruit Bell of Springfield, VA; Maria Fruit of Newburgh, IN and Leah Fruit of Newburgh, IN; and one great grandchild, Hannah Cate Bell of Springfield, VA.

Funeral service will be private. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Hopkins County Honor Guard.
