MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (4/2/13) - Thad Cartwright, a resident of Browder in Muhlenberg County, and an avid bow hunter, has received official classification of taker of World Record Buck status.

Cartwright's very large, and very unusual, velvet buck was measured by Steve Lucas of BTR Buckmasters in the Archery Category, and is the new world record buck. This deer had a gross measurement score of 273 2/8 inch. On top of that, Cartwright has also won the Golden Laurel Citation Award in the Buckmasters records books. This award is given for the best buck and best story of the actual hunt. Only one buck per year is chosen for this award across the United States.

Officials have stated that Mr. Cartwright's world-record buck might be on display at this year's annual Kentucky Deer Classic, held each year in Greenville. This year's Deer Classic will be held on August 24.
