HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Jimmie Austin, 74, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Baptist Health Madisonville.
He was born on January 22, 1939 in Ashbyburg, KY to the late Girdie and Elbert Austin. He was a United States Army Veteran and was retired as a manager with Crop Production Services. He was a member of Slaughters Masonic Lodge #347. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Austin; and his nephew, Damein McCarty.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Betty Austin; his son, Tony Austin of Shreveport, LA; his daughter, Stacy (Jeff) Francies of Elkton, KY; two brothers, Jerry Austin and Mike Austin both of Hanson, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Tommy Wilhite officiating. Military honors will be conducted graveside by the Hopkins County Honor Guard. Burial to follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday with a Masonic rites service held at 6 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday at Harris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mike Austin, Rusty Honeycutt, Paul Austin, Steve Austin, Anthony Austin and Grayling Crowley. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Austin and Terry McCarty.
