Barbara Swain, age 82, of Madisonville, Ky

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Barbara Jean Preston Swain, 82, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 5:23 P.M., Monday, April 29th, 2013 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.

She was born July 12, 1930 in Madisonville, KY to the late Homer and Eva Webb Preston. She was also preceded in death by her son, Mark Swain.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Madisonville, where she served in the children's nursery area for many years. Barbara was a member of the Woman's Club of Madisonville and used her artistic talent to create drawings of homes featured on the annual holiday Tour of Homes.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 55 years, Kenneth Swain; one daughter, Kay (Gary) Sanborn of Louisville, KY; her beloved grandchildren, Katy and Colin Sanborn of Louisville; and her brother, Robert Preston of Madisonville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 and after 9:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Todd Hill, Roger Long, Gary Sanborn, Colin Sanborn, Frank Daniel and Don Buffington.

Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Associations. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
