Owensboro Police Department Activity Report

oboro police 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (5/1/13) – The Owensboro Police Department has released the following arrest information for the dates of April 28 through April 30.

On Saturday, April 27, at approximately 8:45 a.m., officers attempted to perform a traffic stop when a motorcyclist failed to stop at a stop sign. Christopher Hinton allegedly refused to pull over as instructed, resulting in a small chase. Police said Hinton then allegedly attempted to escape police by hiding on a private property, where he took refuge within a building on the property. Police charged Hinton with disregarding a stop sign, no registration on his vehicle, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and fleeing/evading police.

On Sunday, April 28, at approximately 2:58 p.m., officers from Owensboro Police Department responded to a call at the 900 block of East Fifth Street. When officers arrived on scene, they were informed that Misty Phillips allegedly assaulted her boyfriend, David Douglas, with a kitchen knife. Authorities said officers observed visible stab wounds requiring immediate medical attention on Douglas’ body. Officers placed Phillips under arrest at approximately 4:15 p.m. She is currently being held in the Daviess County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.

On Monday, April 29, a firearm was reportedly discharged in the 2500 block of West Cloverdale Drive. As this is an ongoing case, Owensboro Police Department has not released a name at this time. Spokesperson Officer Michael Hathaway has said, however, that there weren’t any injuries as a result of the discharge, although officers did observe property damage in a home across the street due to small arms fire. This could carry a charge of Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree, which is a class D felony, and punishable by approximately one to five years in prison. This case is still under investigation.
