Nationally Renowned Children’s Musician in Concert at Parkway Plaza Mall

hc mad library1 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/15/13) – Nationally-known children’s musician Rick Rayburn will give a free concert on Friday, May 17 at 6 p.m. at the Parkway Plaza Mall on the stage beside Godfather’s Pizza. Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library (HCMPL) is sponsoring the performance in celebration of Children’s Book Week, which runs from now until Sunday, May 19.

“This is not just a guy strumming a guitar, so don’t expect a laid back time at this show!” cautions his website. “His highly interactive concerts have the kids laughing, singing, and dancing up a storm! A Rick Rayburn Kids Concert has a lot of audience participation!”

Since 2002, Rayburn has released four children’s music albums with two more scheduled to be released later this year. Throughout the year, Rayburn tours the Midwest, performing at schools and libraries.

HCMPL Children’s Librarian Angel Killough said that this program will be the third time that he has performed for the library. She described his music as a blend of pop, country, and rock with his concerts incorporating a mix of audience participation, jokes, and singing.

“Rick is a fun and talented musician, and I’m very excited to have him back to perform for us,” Killough said. He has an easy rapport with audiences and I love how he incorporates reading into his shows. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Children’s Book Week than with a concert by Rick for the Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library.”
