HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Sylvia Marie Flener, 73, of Hanson, KY passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 25, 1939 in Madisonville, KY to the late James and Watseka Potts.
Sylvia was a very gifted artist, loved to travel and was an avid reader. She was a member of the Pennyrile Herb Club and Christian Classic Cruisers; her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She retired from Austin Powder in Madisonville and attended Pritchett's Chapel in Madisonville.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, George Flener; her son, Rodney (Benda) Flener of Hanson; her grandchildren, Christy (Galvin) Cavanah of Manitou, KY and Seth (Misty) Flener of Hanson; her great-grandchildren, Justin Cavanah, Taylor Cavanah, Paige Cavanah and Dru Flener; her sisters, Anna Lou (Jr.) Lantrip of Madisonville and Zelda (Bud) Walker of White Plains, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Bobby Rich officiating. Burial to follow in Hanson Cemetery in Hanson.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Gene Stills, Bobby Johnson, Jonny Jones, Mike Flener, Greg Flener and Casey Walker.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Pritchett's Chapel Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
