HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Rev. Mack Carpenter, the son of Jesse Lee Watley and Lonnie C. Carpenter of Natchitoches, Louisiana born on Sept. 7th, 1934 passed away June 5th, 2013 at 5:15 am at Baptist Health Madisonville, KY. He was a great man!
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, 12 siblings, and one daughter, Patricia Maxine.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Delores Berry Carpenter, married on June 13th, 1953, children, Darlene O'dell Van Heerden, Jonathan Andrew (Nancy) Carpenter, Bonnie Louise (Lawrence) Marran, Barbara Michal (Marcus) Smith, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mack and Bobbie became ministers with the United Pentecostal Church International in 1952 and established a church in Flatwoods, Louisiana and two in South Dakota before going on to Foreign Missions work in Southern Africa in 1965 to preach the Gospel and establish many churches. In his later years, he pastored two churches in the state of Kentucky.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Greater Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Madisonville with Pastor Ronnie Hendricks and Rev. Jerry Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Hanson Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home and after 12:00 P.M. to service time on Friday at the church.
Pallbearers will be David Brown, Cliff Nance, Royden Marran, Lawrence Marran, Marcus Smith, and Mark Abernathy.
